Gingerbread Around the World - Italy | Wilton Cake DecoratingWilton works with distributors all over the world. This year, we invited our international distributors to join in our holiday celebrations by decorating a gingerbread house for the holidays! Today, please enjoy this house from Valentina Fabbri and Salvatore Addamo in Italy.

Our Gingerbread House, in its simplicity, expresses what we are. A pretty house with a heart at the entrance door because in our home love will never be missing. Two gingerbread men at the entrance, simple and scented decorations because sometimes simplicity is forgotten. The scent of the star anise on the roof and the cinnamon close to the door remind us of the atmosphere of Christmas and the magic of small things.

Gingerbread Around the World: United Kingdom | Wilton Cake Decorating

Wilton works with distributors all over the world. This year, we invited our international distributors to join in our holiday celebrations by decorating a gingerbread house for the holidays! Today, please enjoy this house from Sonya Gray in the United Kingdom.

Gingerbread has been traditional in England since Medieval times, but only became popular in Elizabethan times. Elizabeth the 1st is credited with the idea of decorating gingerbread when she ordered biscuits to be made in the shape of courtiers. Elaborately decorated gingerbread became synonymous with all things fancy and elegant in England. The gold leaf that was often used to decorate gingerbread cookies led to the expression ‘to take the gilt off of gingerbread.’

Gingerbread Around the World - Australia | Wilton Cake Decorating

Wilton works with distributors all over the world. This year, we invited our international distributors to join in our holiday celebrations by decorating a gingerbread house for the holidays! Today, please enjoy this house from Nessa Presta in Australia. You can follow Nessa on Instagram at @sugarmommasmelbourne or on Facebook at facebook.com/sugarmommasmelbourne.

This gingerbread house is actually the first one I have ever made. I’ve wanted to make one for a couple years now but always seemed to run low on time. This kit was great, as it was already pre-baked and all I had to do was assemble it. I was so excited that not only was it a time saver, it was so simple to follow the instructions in the Wilton gingerbread house kit! The meaning behind my gingerbread house is a beachy warm Christmas. Being that I am from Melbourne, Australia, our Christmases are hot rather than cold and icy so I decided to represent what a true Aussie Christmas looks like to me.

Make Memories This Christmas: Build a Gingerbread House

Wednesday, December 18th, 2013

As the aunt of four boys and the “they call me aunt” of my best friends’ kids, I like to make time during the holiday season to spend an afternoon with these amazing kids doing something fun. First, it’s a great way to make special, cherished memories for them and for me! Second, it gives their parents a chance to run errands kid-free. And third, I like sharing what I know while we do something fun for both of us! My hands-down favorite activity to do with the kids this season: the gingerbread house project! (more…)

Dads: Stuff You Need to Know to Create an Epic Gingerbread Experience with Your Kids

Friday, December 13th, 2013

I am a guy, so it won’t come as a surprise that I like to build stuff. I am not alone. It’s part of our male DNA. It’s something that is passed on from generation to generation. We like to tinker, put stuff together, figure out how it works, play with cool tools, and conquer challenges. Something else I like to do – spend time with my kids. But I will be honest – I am not as patient or as selfless with my time as my wife. I want to find something they like doing but I like to do as well – yeah, I guess that makes me just a really old kid. So, I am always on the look-out for something fun to do with my children.
