As the song goes, “It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas!” As Christmas approaches, so do many holiday movies. Some of my favorite childhood holiday memories were spent watching “Frosty the Snowman” and “Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer” with my family. My husband and I started that same tradition with our girls when they were little.
Using the Gingerbread Boy Cutter, I was able to create a snowman, reindeer, and gingerbread boy cookies which will be a perfect compliment to those movies! I like the versatility of using one cutter to create three different shaped cookies!
I used my favorite sugar cookie recipe to roll and cut out the gingerbread boy shape. I placed them on a parchment paper-lined cookie sheet. Once baked, I put them on my cooling grid. While they cooled, I gathered my decorating supplies.
I also used White Cookie Icing on the snowman cookies. Once the icing was set, I used Black Fondant, rolled it with my rolling pin, and then used my cutter/embosser to cut a small rectangle to make a hat for the snowman.
I made the hat brim by cutting a longer, thinner piece of Black Fondant and pressed that piece on top of the other. I then added a White Snowflake sprinkle to the hat. I placed my hat on my white cookie. Using Neon Orange Fondant, I made a carrot nose. I dotted on two eyes, a mouth, and buttons using Tip 3, a coupler ring, and Black Icing Tube. I could have also made a scarf out of fondant or icing.
I created one Gingerbread Boy by using the Black Icing Tube with Tip 3 and the coupler ring for the eyes and buttons. I used the White Icing Tube and made zigzags on the arms and legs and then used the Red Icing Tube with Tip 5 and the coupler ring for the mouth. For the other boy, I used the White Icing Tube for the eyes and buttons. I then used the Red Icing Tube for the mouth, and dotted the Black Icing Tube for the eyes. I finished him off with a Heart Sprinkle.
For the light brown reindeer, I added two Candy Eyeballs and added a nose using the Red Icing Tube. I thought it looked okay, but then remembered I had Red Cinnamon Drops to add for a more vibrant nose.
For the darker brown reindeer, I used the same technique for the eyes and nose and added a mouth using the Black Icing Tube. I then used the White Icing Tube for ears, antlers, and eyebrows.
With the fireplace roaring and the movie playing, nothing beats a mug of hot cocoa and homemade holiday cookies! I know we will enjoy having “Frosty” and “Rudolph” movie nights!
