How to Make Cake Pops

Crumbled cake mixed with icing or chocolate gives us one sweet treat: the cake pop. This deliciousness on a stick has so many flavor and design possibilities – every time we think we’ve seen it all, a cool new design grabs our attention. If you’ve never tried making cake pops before, I have just the video to get you started along with plenty of fun, colorful, tasty ideas!

First, you’ve got to get the basics down. This video will walk you through how to make cake pops:

Here are a few extra tips to make sure you’re successful:

  • If possible, use a food processor to finely grind the cake. This will help pack your cake pops more tightly than crumbling them by hand.
  • When inserting a lollipop stick into your cake pop, pipe a tiny amount of Candy Melts into the hole, then add the stick. This will make sure the stick sticks…ha, see what I did there?
  • After forming your cake pops and adding lollipop sticks, put the cake pops in the refrigerator for 7 to 8 minutes to let them firm up and become more compact. Once you take them out of the fridge, let them warm up for a few minutes so that they outside isn’t too cold when coming into contact with your Candy Melts.
  • Don’t leave them in the fridge for too long! If they become too cold and compact, after you dip them, the candy will crack as the pops warm up and expand.
  • Use EZ Thin to get your Candy Melts to a thinner consistency that will ensure a smooth, finish.

Once you’ve mastered the cake pop, it’s time to get decorating! There are a lot of ideas out there, but I’ve rounded up a few favorites.

BLUE MARBLED CAKE POPS
