One of my favorite activities during Easter is to color hard-cooked eggs with my 4-year-old son. Zane absolutely loves adding accents, like stickers, glitter, hand-drawn details and more, but these details sometimes leave the egg not edible. So, when I saw all of the incredible Easter eggs on wilton.com—all created with Wilton products—we were inspired to try our own.
We colored the eggs using Wilton Icing Colors. They came out so much brighter than any kit, and the best news (especially with a 4 year old) is that we didn’t have to wait very long! Although we went with traditional colors, you can really mix it up with all the icing colors Wilton offers.
Once dried, the fun began! Zane used FoodWriter™ edible color markers to draw pictures (or asked me to draw his favorite characters from an online video game). Brushing the eggs with piping gel, he also decked them out in colored sugars, Easter sprinkles, confetti and more.
We had a great time together adding some interesting, edible details. And, Zane is sure that the Easter bunny will be so impressed this year that he will be leaving Zane some extra candy in his basket!
