My name is Noé Grande and I live in Sonsonate, El Salvador; a beautiful and warm place in the west part of the country. Since being a pastry chef is my greatest passion, I have shared that passion with my daughters and shown them how far you can get by doing what you love every day. I love to learn different techniques that follow trends and make people happy. In 2015, I was very proud to be the first man in my country to become a certified Wilton Method Instructor.

Christmas Around the World: United Kingdom

Each year in my family, I bake Christmas style Battenburg Cakes to cater to all my family’s tastes (namely, my fussy brothers). Over the years I have altered and perfected my grandma’s teachings of how to make this cake. This summer during a picnic conversation my nephew (age 5) set a challenge to make it “more Christmasy” because it was “boring” (fresh out of the mouths of babes). So I bounced the challenge back to him and told him to come up with a design and I would help him put it together and it must have all the elements of Battenburg. He drew his design, highlighting he wanted a Giant Santa Sleigh that looked like candy canes and must have loads of edible presents. In autumn, he came over for a test bake as I insisted he had to help with the-not-so “boring” baking.

Christmas Around the World: NetherlandsWe’re celebrating Christmas with our Wilton friends all over the globe! In our Christmas Around the World Series, a guest contributor will share their favorite Christmas recipe and story with you. Today’s story comes from Annemiek Wegman-van Putten in the Netherlands.

I’ve always fascinated by cooking and baking since I was a kid. I loved helping my mother out in the kitchen. Now many years later and with 3 children of my own, I am always making cakes and treats for them and the whole family. I started making my first fondant cake in 2006 after I have been baking ‘normal’ cakes for years.  Once I attended a cake decorating course in 2007 I was sold and an addiction was born.

Christmas Around the World: Germany | Wilton Cake Decorating

We’re celebrating Christmas with our Wilton friends all over the globe! In our Christmas Around the World Series, a guest contributor will share their favorite Christmas recipe and story with you. Today’s story comes from Annett Schröder in Germany.

The German season for Christmas sweets starts early. In some stores you will find the first Gingerbread cookies appearing in late summer. But when days start to get shorter and it gets colder outside in autumn, families really start to prepare for the season. On the 6th of December, when Santa Claus comes into our houses, children place their boots for Santa to fill them with sweets. In these days baking is the most popular family event. You can enjoy the smell of baked cookies and Christmas cakes in all the kitchens. When family and friends come to visit on the weekends in December before the Christmas holidays, lovely decorated sweets are the eye catchers on German tables.
