Ruffled Valentine’s Day Cupcakes

Piled high with ruffles and rosettes, these sweet Valentine’s Day cupcakes are a great way to say “I love you!”  In different shades of pink, these cupcakes also sport a little candy heart on top for a crowning touch.   These cupcakes are also great for work or classroom treats!

Bake cupcakes

Bake and cool cupcakes according to pan directions.

Step 2:
Prepare buttercream icing

Prepare buttercream icing following recipe directions.  Divide icing into three bowls, 1¼ cup icing per bowl.  Tint one bowl light peach with Creamy Peach icing color.  Tint one bowl dark pink with Creamy Peach and Rose icing colors.  Leave remaining bowl white.

Step 3:
Prepare decorating bags

Prepare decorating bag with tip 104 and fill with white icing.  Insert couplers in two remaining bags.  Attach tip 104 to one bag and fill with pink icing.  Attach tip 18 to other bag and fill with peach icing.

 

Step 4:
Decorate cupcakes

Using white icing and ruffle technique, pipe two rows of ruffles on each cupcake.  On half of the cupcakes, use pink icing to pipe two rows of ruffles on top of the white ruffles.  Top with peach rosettes.

Switch tip 18 to pink bag and tip 104 to peach bag.  Using peach icing, pipe two rows of ruffles on top of white ruffles on remaining cupcakes and top with pink rosettes.

Top cupcakes with heart icing decorations.
