We all have tried and true recipes in our repertoire. You know what I mean – those staples you’ve made more than once, and turn out perfect every time. For me, spritz cookies are one of those recipes. Every Christmas, I press out a batch to add to cookie trays or to give as small gifts. Every recipe bake 7-8 dozen cookies. Spritz cookies yield a big bang per batch.
But the real reason that I adore spritz cookies is their versatility in flavor. Over the years, Wilton has created lots of different recipes for spritz, but the base dough always remains the same. This basic dough works so well in our cookie presses, forming perfect buttery cookies that keep their intricate shapes when baked. Small changes in flavor additions, like adding lemon zest or gingerbread spices to the basic dough yields a completely different cookie. This year, since Latin American flavors are so popular, we’re introducing Cinnamon Spritz Cookies with Dulce De Leche Filling. They’re delicate cinnamon-laced cookies with creamy filling sandwiched inside. So delicious!
