Wine Wednesday: Caramel Pecan Brownie Bites

Wine Wednesday Dessert Pairing | Wilton Cake Decorating It’s the day you have all been waiting for – it’s time for another Wine Wednesday! This Wine Wednesday is extra special because our recipe not only pairs with one but TWO wines! That’s right; you have your choice of two delicious wines to pair with Wilton’s Caramel Pecan Brownie Bites.


You read that right. Caramel. Pecan. Brownies. There are just so many good things about this recipe. Not only is it easy to make because it has a box mix as its base, it’s also made in Wilton’s Mega Mini Muffin Pan which means you can make four dozen at once. The brownies are made with pecans in the batter, then topped with more pecans and caramel sauce. The first pairing for these brownie bites is the K-J Port.

“The wine was handcrafted in the traditional Portuguese Ruby-style that includes arresting the fermentation at the optimum time to preserve the natural flavors and confluence of sugar, alcohol and acidity,” said K-J winemaster Randy Ullom. “This Port is filled with lush plum, blueberry notes and rich red berry fruit flavors supported by velvety smooth tannins. Enjoy this Port with your favorite cheese course, dessert or slightly chilled as an apéritif.”

The port compliments the richness of the caramel topping and accents the chocolate in the brownie. The wine also has smoky notes that complement the pecans perfectly. Is port wine not your thing? That’s OK! This recipe also pairs with the Late Harvest Chardonnay that we mentioned in the Wine Wednesday Week 1 post. It’s a sweet chardonnay so it blends beautifully with the sweetness of these brownies.
