Calling all lefties! If you’re one of the exceptionally rare 10% of the population that predominantly uses their left hand, we’ve got a treat for you. Our left-handed piping tutorial shows you how to decorate cakes elegantly and easily using products designed specifically for you. Check out how to pipe with your left hand and create decorations as swiftly as your right-handed friends!

HOW TO DECORATE A CAKE using YOUR LEFT HAND

You’ll need:

Step 1:

When piping a line of decorations (such as borders), work from right to left so that your hand doesn’t block your line of sight. This will make it easier for you to see where you will pipe your next decoration.

Step 2:

Look at photos in reverse. If you have access to a copy machine or scanner, try reversing the images to get a better idea of how a technique should look.

Take a look at how Wilton’s left-handed Test Kitchen Manager Elizabeth Nelson demonstrates this technique in our video below:

Wondering what other items you have for “lefties”. I often wondered why I was having some problems that my “rightie” friends don’t have when decorating cakes e.g. seeing what I was doing without smudging what I had already done and having problems with lettering as they never seemed to be even.
I find this quite interesting as I have never seen left-handed decorating equipment in any Canadian store.
    Thanks
