Hi, I love the shaped pans, but why are they all made in the dark metal. It bakes the outside of the cake too fast even at 325 in the middle of the oven. I’ve noticed all the pans are in the dark stuff now. Bring back the light . It works so much better and you don’t have a hard cake when the middle is baked.

    • Wendy,

I read your concern with the dark pans…. I had the same problem but what I did was I took a large baking dish that had just enough depth to it.. I put about 1 – 1 1/2 Inch of water in the Baking pan. I then put the Character pan in the water and Baked it at the normal temp… It does help the situation with the corners getting hard… also you may want to turn the whole thing around so the heat is distributed evenly about 1/4 of the way through the Baking time, & again for the remainder of the time Baking the cake. Also you must know that some of the Character Pans are slightly uneven and will need lifting . I just tried the Baking pan with the water and presto, Problem solved… I hope this works for you.. Happy Baking….Sue

That’s still to much to do. A person shouldn’t have to purchase a pan to bake in. And then turn around to find a pan that’s deep enough to pour water, just so that the cake won’t get dark while cooking. What sense does that make?
