A Tip for Cleaning – the Dishwasher Tip Tray!

April 15th, 2012 by Kristie Sarmiento

I love baking and decorating. I love the excitement on my family’s faces when I have cupcakes or a cake decorated for the latest birthday party, holiday, or just for a fun surprise treat. What I don’t love? The cleanup. (I get shivers just thinking about it!)

Dishwasher Tip TrayI am notorious for using tips, couplers and disposable bags, and then begging someone else to clean them when I’m done with my latest cake decorating project. So when I found out about Wilton’s new Dishwasher Tip Tray, I was first in line to give it a try!

After I finished my decorating project this past weekend, I pushed the excess icing out of my tips. Then I loaded my used tips into the Dishwasher Tip Tray, filling all 10 spaces. I covered the base with the lid, and snapped the lid closed. Holes in the lid align with each tip in the base, securing them into the tray. And since there was a popping sound when I closed the lid, I knew it was locked in place. Then I just placed it into the top-loading area of my dishwasher and let it run with the rest of my dishes.

And the results? Beautiful. Both the tips and the tray were spotless. There was no excess icing hidden in the crevices of the tips, and there was no additional scrubbing necessary on my part.

As a matter of fact, the only things that I washed were my hands after loading the dishwasher!

So my tip for you? The Dishwasher Tip Tray is definitely a must-have for cake decorating cleanup!

love the dishwasher tray – after an evening of cake decorating, it was on my wish list!

my only recommended improvement: have at least opening that will take the large tips. I use #1m and 2d weekly and they will not fit. Other than that, it is perfect.

can’t hardly wait to try the new dishwasher tray. Hope it’s as good as some of the replies say. Cause I hate to clean out the tips with the little brush,or take them out of of the dishwasher with frosting still in them.

I also have a lot of trouble keeping up with cleaning and leaving my tips out for at least 24 hours to dry, so I am excited about this new product and can’t wait to try the dishwasher tray.
I just have to check out how much it is first!

For a couple of years I used the net bags similar to the one for lingerie in your washing machine for washing tips in the dishwasher. It did an “OK” job. Not great nor terrible. This summer I purchased the new case and was VERY pleased with the results. The only thing I would like is a case for the large tips such as the 1M and the like. They won’t fit in the case shown and still need to be washed by hand or in the net bag. One thing that’s nice in the case is the tips don’t get inside one another and thereby not completely clean. This one for Wilton is a keeper.
