Breaking Bread on Mother’s Day

May 1st, 2011 by Desiree Smith

I like bread. I’d rather eat freshly baked bread than freshly baked cake. While pondering what to make for our Mother’s Day Brunch, I remembered a great alternate use for my favorite Wilton pans – the Dimensions® line.

Last Fall, the decorating room team baked bread in the Dimensions® Skull Pan. Since I like bread, I decided to have a practice run baking bread in the Dimensions® Antoinette Pan.

Bread Dough

I also like things easy, so I used dough from a hot roll mix. After kneading, I pressed the dough into the pan prepared with Bake Easy™ Non-Stick Spray. I followed the mix package instructions and let the dough rise for 30 minutes.

The bread released perfectly from the well-greased pan. The top of the bread looked as though it could use more time in the oven. I put the bread on a cookie sheet and let it brown a bit more.

Sliced Baked Bread

The bread tasted great, and looked great. Serve the bread with Artichoke Dip or Spinach Dip or Olive Oil and Grated Cheese or Seasoned Butter, oh I could go on and on.

It’s fun to try alternate uses of baking pans. Have you used your baking pans for treats other than cake?

Wow that is a fab idea. I make bread all the time but never used a fun pan. I’m a WMI and that’s a tip I’ll be sharing with my class. Thanks!
