6 Flavored Buttercream Frosting Recipes

Monday, August 7th, 2017

6 Flavored Buttercream Recipes | Wilton Cake DecoratingThe perfect compliment to a delicious cake is luscious buttercream made from scratch. Even if you’ve never made buttercream frosting before, you’ll find it’s quite simple to make. All of the recipes below, except for the key lime buttercream recipe, are made with half butter and half shortening. If you prefer your frosting to be all butter or all shortening, you can easily substitute the amount called for in the recipe.

For the smoothest buttercream, I highly recommend sifting your confectioners’ sugar before starting. I find this makes it the best consistency! Always beat your butter and shortening together first until the mixture is light and fluffy. Follow the instructions for each recipe regarding any liquids (such as vanilla) or other flavorings that need to be added. Add confectioners’ sugar one cup at a time, beating after each addition.

Tired of plain old buttercream? Try out one of these delicious flavored buttercream recipes below!

Show School Spirit with Team Color Cupcakes

School Spirit
Show your school spirit in the most delicious way possible – cheer the team on with team color cupcakes! We have just about every team color combination out there, and it’s really easy to match your school colors. Just find your colors using our Team Color Icing Guide and follow the number of drops with our Color Right Performance Color System.

Each drop formula is created for two cups’ worth of icing. I love using our 4.5 pound tub of Decorator Icing because it’s delicious and a huge time saver. If I need more icing, it’s easy to recreate the same color again with the drop system without making a whole new batch of icing from scratch.
