Christmas time is no doubt my favorite time of the year, but this year feels even more special because it is my first Christmas in my new home with my husband! With decorating under-way, I had just enough Christmas spirit (and courage) to offer to host the holiday this year. I am excited to have my very large family in my new home, but suddenly became weary as a first-time hostess…How am I going to pull this off?!
Many know me as the one that puts a lot of heart into her cooking and baking…but sometimes the end result doesn’t taste as great as the effort. Almost into my 30’s, I still consider myself a beginner in the kitchen. My mother politely inserted herself as back-up hostess, and helped me put together our dinner menu for the special event.
Dessert is always my family’s most favorite part of the meal. With limited time, I knew I could count on Wilton’s Decorating Cookie & Cupcake kits. Quick, so easy…and I know I’d finally earn the credit I’ve been waiting for!

Gingerbread Men with Ugly Sweaters
You will need:
12 Cookies or 12 Cupcakes
Buttercream Icing with Disposable Decorating Bag/Round Decorating Tip 3 (Spatula Iced Cookies/Cupcakes look great too!)
Wilton Decorator Icing (Kelly Green) with Star Decorating Tip 18
Simply bake, let cool and ice! Top with the Gingerbread Men Royal Icing Decoration. Give your Gingerbread Men more flair by adding Wilton Sprinkles!
Again, bake, let cool and ice! I kept things simple here and decided to spatula ice my cupcakes. Use the edible ink marker to personalize your stockings! (This was my favorite part!) Place Icing Decorations on top of cupcakes (or cookies) to complete.
Again, bake, let cool and ice! I used my decorating bag to ice in order create a larger mound of icing. I then used my spatula to smooth. Sprinkle clear sugars on top to create your glistening snow! Insert peppermint stick, and attach sticker.
Again, bake, let cool and ice! I used my decorating bag to ice all of my cookies, and then used my spatula to create a smooth surface for the Snowman’s face. The kit includes a tray which not only makes decorating easy, but also neat! Attach black rounds for eyes and mouth, orange drop for nose and jelly strips for scarf!
Again, bake and let cool. Mix white icing with Wilton Icing color until you reach desired skin tone. Ice cookies smooth to create Santa’s face! This kit also includes a tray which kept my working area very neat! Attach Jelly Hat, and marshmallow pom pom. Use black rounds for eyes, and red round for nose. Use white rounds for beard!
Happy Holidays to you and your family! And from one beginner to another, good luck with all of your holiday baking!
Tip: All kits are great for non-decorators as well as kids! Quick, easy and fun with a successful result!
