Organize Your Space with the Ultimate Tool Caddy

May 20th, 2011 by Stephanie Michel

My decorating cabinet is a vast land of lost sprinkles and icing colors I didn’t even I know I had. And yes, it is embarrassing to show this to you, but it is necessary to show how the Ultimate Tool Caddy™ can transform your decorating space.

Ultimate Tool Caddy I am, what my co-workers like to call, a little obsessed with having a neat space. My desk is clean. Every piece of paper, every post-it has its place. Which is why it drove me nuts to have a kitchen with a cabinet like this.

Enter: the Ultimate Tool Caddy. EVERYTHING has a place! Everything can be organized.

    • A special drawer for my icing colors, a drawer for all those fondant tools, a place to keep my spatulas!

    • No longer will I have to stop a project to look for that fondant tool.

    • Never again will that can of Bake Easy™ fall out of the cabinet as I try to find the right sprinkles.

    • I won’t have to rummage around for that icing color that I swear I have but can’t find.

    • I have a place to keep those tiny fondant cutters so they don’t get lost in decorating limbo.

  • And my tips… all the tips have their spot. No more pulling out a #12, #6, #44, when I want is tip #18.

Not only is everything where it should be now, but I can also grab my caddy and go to class. Or take it to a friend’s house to make a cake.

And now for the moment you have all been waiting for: my cabinet – before and after! Perfectly organized too! Imagine the clarity this could bring to your kitchen!

Diana- As mentioned below, Michaels has good sales as well as coupons and you often get a coupon at the register for the next week. Hobby Lobby also has coupons. Sign up on both of their sites and get coupons and offers not in the papers. And haunt garage sales and thrift stores. Good luck.

And try That’s all free – you ask for something and if someone has it, they will give it to you. And vice versa.

seyi, see my comment about hardware stores & if you have access to Ebay, you can buy just about anything. A lot of people buy an item for one cake & need to sell it for more money or room. I got a box full of Fondant working tools for pennies on the dollar. Good Luck

I love the Wilton Caddy, but I have purchased several tool boxes at the local Home Fix-it store, & they have done me very well over the years. I even have a rather large one with drawers that holds the cake levelers & a lot of the larger items we use. I bought my first tool box before this one came out & I am not saying anything negative, just don’t forget to look at tools from a cake decorator’s eye, you’d be amazed at what you can see. I have a hugh incredibly strong & stable turn table made from 2 pieces of pre-cut wood and a ball-bearing seat swivel I just had to screw together. It has handled the biggest layers I’ve set on it. An nothing smooths your butter cream like a putty knife used to smooth plaster. at 6 inches, it’s nice to get an almost fondant smooth finish with one pass. I can never do without Wilton, I have books back to 1971, but the hardware store has a lot to offer us too!

So far I have been using just a cabinet in my kitchen for all my cake supplies, but I bought this caddy just yesterday, and I wish I had bought it sooner! It makes storage super easy and organized. This caddy makes everything easily accessible, from tips to coloring. It’s strong and sturdy, and i absolutely love the holders on the sides for your spatulas. I highly recommend purchasing this and it is well worth the price. Thanks so much Wilton!!

Also check Craigslist! I bought my first kit from someone who was giving up the hobby. I met we in a public place and I paid cash. Same for pans, they’re cheap and barely used.
