Spritzing Up Your Holiday Baking Routine

We all have tried and true recipes in our repertoire. You know what I mean – those staples you’ve made more than once, and turn out perfect every time. For me, spritz cookies are one of those recipes. Every Christmas, I press out a batch to add to cookie trays or to give as small gifts. Every recipe bake 7-8 dozen cookies. Spritz cookies yield a big bang per batch.

cinnamon-spritz-cookiesBut the real reason that I adore spritz cookies is their versatility in flavor. Over the years, Wilton has created lots of different recipes for spritz, but the base dough always remains the same. This basic dough works so well in our cookie presses, forming perfect buttery cookies that keep their intricate shapes when baked. Small changes in flavor additions, like adding lemon zest or gingerbread spices to the basic dough yields a completely different cookie. This year, since Latin American flavors are so popular, we’re introducing Cinnamon Spritz Cookies with Dulce De Leche Filling. They’re delicate cinnamon-laced cookies with creamy filling sandwiched inside. So delicious!

    We just finished making a big batch and went to eat them.We have Celiacs and I forgot to add Xanthum gum. I am so disappointed.They stick to the roof of our mouths and are dry and crumbly. This is the only thing I can think of that we did to make them that way. I don’t want to ruin another batch can someone help me please!

  2. Love all the Wilton ideas. Hope you can help me – whenever I make spritz, they are great just out of oven, but turn hard as a rock the next day. What am I doing wrong? Too much butter? I usually use half shortening and half butter, but they are still too hard! Help!

  5. I just loved the Salt and Vinegar Potato Chip Spritz recipe. Would certainly be trying this over the weekend. Have a bunch of old mates visiting me so would be a nice treat from them. Can you please provide Cinnamon Spritz Cookies with Dulce De Leche Filling recipe the link seems to be broken.
