Ultimate Trim-N-Turn Caddy

April 5th, 2012 by Mason Umholtz

You know that moment of hesitation when the sweat starts to bead… when your cake starts to slide off of your turntable and into your carrier. That freshly decorated cake you spent countless hours and a couple of late nights perfecting is about to be ruined.

This can be a stressful moment, rightfully so, born from the thought of your carefully constructed creation toppling over and crashing top-down onto the kitchen floor. The Wilton product team recognized the fear associated with the possibility of this happening.  We wanted to design a caddy that provided you with the peace of mind you deserve when transporting your masterpiece.

Ultimate Trim-N-Turn Caddy

In response, we developed the Ultimate Trim-N-Turn Caddy.

Some key features of the Ultimate Trim-N-Turn Caddy include:

  • A dome clearance of 6.5 inches
  • Smooth turntable rotation that locks when transporting
  • A turntable that is removable – it becomes a serving tray that lets you present in style.
  • The caddy lid becomes a stand which offers a nice height for decorating and maximizes space

To really appreciate the new Ultimate Trim-N-Turn Caddy, you need to see it in action.   Watch the roundtable video below to see three of our cake decorating experts, Cathy, Sarah, and Traci, do a great job demonstrating the new, innovative features.

My favorite feature is the removable serving plate. At no point in the process will your cake have to be moved off of the decorating surface, greatly reducing the chance of any potential mishaps.

The built-in turntable is perfect for the decorating process because it rotates smoothly and locks in place when transporting. The extra tall 6.5 inch lid provides enough overhead room to prevent crushing delicate flowers on the top of your cake.

Each of the new items in the Decorate Smart program were born from watching cake decorators in their home kitchens and out at our very own Wilton cake decorating classes. This development process not only makes the Ultimate Trim-N-Turn Caddy unique from anything else that has ever been on the market, but it is also what makes it thoughtfully functional for decorators of all levels.ULTIMATE Trim-N-Turn Caddy

Following through with the “doing is understanding, seeing is believing” motto is what ensures that the Wilton product experience is the best that it can be for whom it matters the most (that would be you… our customers).

What’s your favorite feature of the Ultimate Trim-N-Turn Caddy?

Oh, wow! Absolutely love it! Where can I buy this? The last time I transported my cake it slid off the seat and not only did the serving plate break, but the dome fell off and the cake rolled off of the front seat onto the floor. That was sad, people!!

  11. Georgia says:

How wide is this? How wide of a cake can you put on it and still put the cover on?

I already have this solution and have had this for numerous years. The $5 – $6 dollar Sterilite caddy has the straight sides and always has so you have always been able to put a tall 10″ cake in it. It has always had the ability to put the cake base on top of the cake caddy lid to add height to your cake decoration. AND, all of Wilton’s flat turntables have always been able to fit in the Sterilite caddy and turn easily.

I have taken the old courses along the new ones and almost all of us have used the Sterilite caddy with a flat Wilton turntable. The great theing about this system is that is cost a fraction of the $70 price of the new Wilton solution. The Wilton flat turntables in the US are $14.99 before a coupon and the Sterilite cake caddy’s are $5 – $6 bucks.

I would rather invest this money for an electric turntable or a professional one.

  16. Nancy B says:

When oh when will someone make a cake caddy like this for up to a 16 inch cake. Not even is there one for a 12 inch cake. So, please will someone make a 16 ” caddy. Transporting three tier cakes are so scarry.

  17. Melissa says:

I agree w/ Nancy, I bake tall cakes and to find somthing to transport is scary for sure… so I would love to see a tall cake transporter.

  18. Diana says:

It would be nice if something like this could be done for cupcakes.
Some of the cases for cupcake when you travel they come out of
there place and when you decorate and put the top on it hits the
decoration and if you have a top and bottom the bottom gets all
    mess up. Not tall enough.

  19. Farah says:

I just received this as a birthday present! Can’t wait to try!

  20. Mina says:

thank you for giving the width also in cm!
And thank you for this awesome product! I just have some questions.
Do you think it would be possible to mold a Non-slip soft grip into the plate’s surface like the tilt n turn ultra cake turntable has? Since I’m baking smaller cakes I’m afraid it could slip around while transporting. Is it tall enough for a “small” two tiered cake (24cm and 18cm)?

Hi. I really like this cake caddy and this was my best friend during the course 1, my cakes were always safe . thank you

  22. Sandy says:

I am just barely beginning. Unfortunately, I purchased the previous model prior to viewing this clip! I certainly would like to find this one and the new tool caddy. When one doesn’t already have any of the things one needs to get started, it gets expensive (for me on fixed income) and I know I have made mistakes in my selections. It would be great if there was a “beginner list of items”, there may already be one and I just haven’t stumbled across it yet. Any suggestions for buying less expensive glass cake stands with domes? Any suggestions you have would be greatly appreciated! I am looking forward to developing this skill set and so excited!

    Thank You and Best Wishes

I purchased this product and was happy it presented my cake well, but when I placed the cake onto the patter, the platter cracked in various areas near the center of the platter. Several times I went to different ACE Moore stores with my receipt and was denied an exchange or a refund. I purchased another one and placed my cake on it as instructed by the teacher of the cake decorating class to do while the cake is still hot and cover immediately for a moist cake, but the side of the platter melted. Once again, I tried exchanging it and was denied. It is the first time I purchase a product that is not cheap and get stuck with it. Now I am trying to find a platter to replace it on the caddy, but have not found it sold separately. I a very disappointed. The same thing happened with the cake trimmer measuring line. On my second cake, the metal string broke off and since I didn’t have the box, I got despite having a receipt, I was denied an exchange. Another broken Wilton product and another bill I got stuck with so I am not happy.
