Perfect for birthdays, bridal showers and everything in between, this Oblong Floral Cake is a quick and easy project for decorators of all skill levels.
Using products found in our new Navy and Gold Kitchen Collection, this oblong cake is a great way to try out these baking and decorating tools.

Simple decorating techniques, such as rosettes, stars, leaves, dots and shells are used to pipe this lovely floral border – and with plenty of room to add your own message in the center, this sheet cake will be party-ready in no time!


Step 1: Bake cake.

Prepare cake batter following recipe instructions. Bake and cool cake in oblong pan.

Step 2: Tint Icing.

Combine Brown and Juniper Green icing colors to get olive brown color shown.

Combine Cornflower Blue and Moss Green icing colors to get light blue color shown.

Combine Delphinium Blue, Cornflower Blue and a touch of Black icing colors to get dark blue color shown.

Tint ½ cup white icing each olive brown, light blue and dark blue using color combinations provided.

Using Moss Green icing color, tint ½ cup white icing moss green.

Reserve remaining icing white.

Step 3: Prepare Decorating Bags.

Prepare decorating bags with tips and icing colors as follows:

  • Tip 3 and olive brown icing
  • Tip 18 and light blue icing
  • Tip 32 and white icing
  • Tip 104 and dark blue icing
  • Tip 1M and white icing
  • Tip 352 and moss green icing

Step 4: Ice Cake.

Using 9 in. angled spatula and white icing, ice cake.

Step 5: Decorate Cake

Use the prepared decorating bags to pipe rosettes, stars, leaves, dots, shells and floral sprigs around the edges of cake.
