Turn ordinary cookies into something special with just a few extra steps! I volunteered to make basketball cookies as my contribution to a March Madness Potluck Lunch. I was able to dress up simple round cookies into basketball cookies by using Cookie IcingIcing Color, and Ready-To-Use Decorating Icing.

I used my favorite sugar cookie recipe and a small round cookie cutter to make my cookies. You can easily use store-bought cookies or refrigerated cookie dough that you bake.

The Cookie Icingis super easy to use and tasty too! Just remove the bottle cap and safety seal and then warm the bottle in the microwave. I added Terra Cotta Icing Color to warmed White Cookie Icing. I reattached the bottle cap, shook the bottle, and repeated until I achieved the color I wanted.

I placed my cookies on my cooling grid and then piped the icing on the cookies and let them dry. I was able to ice 169 2-inch cookies using one bottle! It definitely went a long way!

Once my iced cookies were dry, I took a tube of Black Decorating Icing and twisted on tip 2 with a coupler ring.  It was that simple! I then piped on my lines and let the cookies set. This icing also went a long way – I had enough to put lines on all of those 169 cookies!

This same technique can also be used to create baseballs, soccer balls, or even footballs all with the change of a cookie cutter and different colors. Why not surprise your little sports enthusiast with a tasty treat after practice or their big game? Or better yet, why not help the kiddies and surprise Dad on Father’s Day?!
