4th of July Meringue Pops

  • Large glass mixing bowl
  • Hand Mixer
  • 16 inch piping bags
  •  Round Decorating Tip 2A
  • Parchment Paper
  • Wilton Baking Sheet
  • Wilton Treat Sticks
  • 1/8 cup Wilton Meringue Powder
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Blue and Red Icing Colors
  • White Nonpareil Sprinkles
  • Silver Edible Glitter
  1. Preheat oven to 255 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. In the glass bowl, add the meringue powder and water and mix on medium until frothy. Add the vanilla and mix until soft peaks form.
  3. Slowly add the sugar, gradually mixing for about 10 seconds on medium in between each addition.
  4. Once all the sugar has been added, mix on high for 2-5 minutes until stiff peaks form.
  5. Since were making flags, we’ll need to separate the meringue to get the red, white and blue colors.
  6. Divide the meringue batter into three equal portions. Add about a tablespoon of blue gel coloring to one portion and a tablespoon of red gel coloring to another portion and mix well. Leave the remaining portion white.
  7. Prepare three piping bags with tip 2A. Fill bags separately with blue, red and white meringue batter.
  8. On a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, pipe a small dot of blue meringue and set treat stick inside. Pipe the blue square of the American Flag on the stick.
  9. With the bags of the red and white meringue, pipe alternating lines to resemble the flag-making sure to connect each line to each other and the blue squares.
  10. Top with white nonpareils on the blue to resemble the stars of the flag.
  11. Bake for about 30-35minutes and allow to cool completely.
  12. Top with silver edible glitter and enjoy!
