No decorating tip needed for this project! Simply dip your cookies in royal icing to create this amazing swirl pattern on these Swirls of Love Cut-Out Cookies. With a dunk and a dash of sprinkles, these treats are easy to decorate and make a cute alternative to traditional Valentine’s Day candies.
- Roll-Out Cookie Dough Recipe
- Royal Icing Recipe (2 recipes needed)
- Meringue Powder
- Burgundy Icing Color
- Red-Red Icing Color
- Pink Icing Color
- Ivory Icing Color
- Violet Icing Color
- Royal Blue Icing Color
- Rose Icing Color
- White Sparkling Glitters
- Gold Pearlized Sugar
Step 1 Bake cookies. Prepare cookie dough following recipe instructions. Using cookie cutter set, cut out cookies. Bake and cool.
Step 2 Make icing. Prepare two recipes of royal icing. Divide into five equal portions, about ½ cup each.
Tint one portion each dark pink, light pink, blue and purple using color combinations provided. Combine Burgundy and Red-Red icing colors to get dark pink color shown. Combine Pink, Burgundy and a touch of Ivory icing colors to get light pink color shown. Combine Royal Blue and Violet icing colors to get blue color shown. Combine Violet and Rose icing colors to get purple color shown. Color one portion Ivory. Reserve remaining portion white.
Step 3 Decorate cookies. Prepare decorating bags separately with dark pink, light pink, blue, purple and white icing. Pipe horizontal lines of icing on large plate.
Dip cookies into piped icing; transfer to cooling grid. Immediately top with sparkles and sugars, following color lines.
Let cookies dry completely, about 24 hours.
