This delicious berry trifle is the ultimate summer dessert!  Made with angel food cake, fresh berries and whipped cream this recipe is so easy that it will make frequent cameos at gatherings with family and friends.

The angel food cake is light, airy and made with egg whites, sugar, vanilla extract and cake flour. This creates fluffy base cake layers that pair perfectly with fresh berries and whipped topping. The red, white and blue look of this trifle bowl makes it the perfect 4th of July treat to enjoy under the sparkling glint of a fireworks show overhead.

This easy to make summer berry trifle is a delicious make ahead dessert for any occasion.

Ingredients
 

  • 1 package Wilton whipped icing mix (10 oz.)
  • ice water to prepare mix
  • 1 angel food cake (13 oz.), cut into 1” cubes Can use store bought angel food cake or our angel food cake recipe
  • 2-1/2 cups cups sliced strawberries (from 16 oz. package) divided
  • 1 package blueberries (6 oz.) divided
  • 1 package blueberries (6 oz.) divided

Instructions
 

  • In a large bowl with an electric mixer, prepare whipped icing mix according to package instructions.
  • Arrange half of the angel food cake cubes at the bottom of a 3.5 quart trifle dish or large bowl. Sprinkle evenly with 1/3 of the strawberries, 1/3 of the blueberries, and 1/3 of the raspberries
  • Spread half of the whipped icing on top of berries. Continue layering with remaining ingredients, ending with berries.
  • Cove rand refrigerate until thoroughly chilled, about 2 hours.
